Music for Dressage
The Listening Lounge
From his past work, David J. Young has compiled a collection of winning
Freestyle
soundtracks for you to audition. Although the works are edited for brevity
and copyright
protection, you will be able to hear the variety of styles and musical
interest which surpass the
background music supplied by many other services. The music reaches in
and becomes part of
the performance, articulating the movement of horse and rider.

The Composer
David J. Young has been writing music for Dressage since 1992 and has
composed for many of Canada’s well-known riders as well as others
from the US. His other work has involved him in writing for Discovery
Int’l, TLC, Bravo, Rogers Communications, radio, educational and corporate
projects. His recent album "Silver Lining" was recently featured at the Winter Olympics and is being looked at by Sony ATV for film application.
His Music
David’s music has been very well received by judges and audiences
from local shows to World Cup competition. His success is largely based
on his ability to create a driving forward momentum through varied musical
styles, sewn together with his renowned transitional work.
Having been a classically trained musician, his sounds tend to be acoustic
in nature though he is no stranger to the use of synthesized or contemporary
sounds. For David the music must be compelling regardless of style or
instrumentation. It must move the listener.
